What is Cough Assist?
Cough Assist is a machine that helps clear secretions (phlegm) by applying a positive pressure to fill the lungs, then switching to a negative pressure to produce a high expiratory flow rate to simulate a cough. The equipment can be connected to a facemask, mouthpiece, endotracheal, or tracheostomy tube. When you breathe in, the Cough Assist provides a positive pressure that expands the lungs. When you breathe out, it applies a negative pressure that pulls air out of the lungs. The swift change in pressure elicits an effective cough.
The Cough Assist machine is ideal for people with muscular dystrophies, myasthenia gravis, SMA, spinal cord lesions, and MND. Respirico is the leading supplier of such equipment to SA Health. We offer reliable services, low prices, and excellent responsiveness to customer needs. Additionally, we offer short and long-term equipment hire and no-interest payment plans for those without funding.
What Are the Benefits of a Cough Assist Machine?
A Cough Assist machine is a safe, non-invasive alternative to suctioning to remove lung secretions. Removing secretions decreases the risk of developing chest infections. A patient can use the device at home after proper training from our team. Depending on your condition, we will ensure you know what each control does and how to operate the machine. You will complete about six cycles before having a rest, during which you can cough out any secretions that might have been loosened.
Respirico strives to provide quality equipment and complete peace of mind. We offer 24/7 emergency call-outs if the machine malfunctions and ongoing services and repairs. Our talented team of service and repair professionals are trained and qualified to repair your Cough Assist machine, whether you are a new customer or have purchased or rented the equipment. We are here to provide expert advice and exceptional services.
Purchasing or renting a Cough Assist machine from us gives you peace of mind that you have top-quality equipment. Call us today.
